ARCHERY

Allen County Archers

The Allen County Archers, at the corner of state Route 117 and Defiance Trail, have monthly shoots planned. A traditional shoot is held the third Saturday of every month from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Two day shooting events will be held the first Saturday and Sunday of every month through September. BASEBALL

Bluffton

The Bluffton University baseball team will host a Youth Skills Camp from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. July 10-11. The camp is open to youth ages 9-13. Cost is $60. Registration forms can be found at bluffton.edu/baseballyouth

The camp will offer a fun and collaborative environment that teaches and builds on the fundamentals of baseball. Bluffton University coaches and players will teach all aspects of the game including hitting, defense, throwing, and base running. Participants will need to bring a sack lunch, water bottle and all baseball equipment (helmet, glove, bat, catcher’s equipment, etc.)

St. Marys

The St. Marys Baseball Association will again be hosting the Father’s Day Classic baseball tournament. This will be held June 16-18 at KC Geiger Park in St. Marys. There will be four separate divisions: 9U, 10U, 11U, and 12U, with awards for each division. Teams are guaranteed three games. Entry fee is $225. The Bath Parents Sports Club is having its annual “Best of the Northwest” youth baseball tournament June 9-11. There will be a 12U, 10U and 8U coach pitch division. BASKETBALL

Bluffton

The Bluffton University women’s basketball team will host a Skills Camp Monday, June 26 — 29. The camp is open to girls entering grades 2-8. The first session will be for participants entering grades 2-4 and will take place from 9 a.m.-noon all four days. The second session will be for participants entering grades 5-8 and will take place from 1-4 p.m. each day. The cost for session one is $55 per camper while session two costs $65 per camper and payment must be received by June 15. Registration forms can be found at bluffton.edu/athletics/camps.html

The Lima YMCA is conducting a summer camp for students in grades 1- 2 June 26-29. The fee is $25 for YMCA members and $40 for non members.

Van Wert

Elite Fundamentals Baseball will be returning for the third summer to the Van Wert area. Four different camp sites will be visited this year. The summer schedule is June 5-8 at Shane’s Park in Rockford, June 12-15 at Hannah Nuttman Park in Decatur, Indiana, June 19-22 at Stadium Park in Delphos, and finally June 26-29 at Smiley Park in Van Wert. The camp will run 8am to noon, Monday to Thursday, and Friday will serve as a rain make up date. The cost of the camp is $75 for the week. Single day rates are available and appropriate refunds will be given if the camp does not take place four full days for weather issues. Local area high school coaches are committed to bring a high level instructional camp for players trying to maximize their game. Ages 5-15 are welcome, T-shirts and camp awards will be given in several ages groups. CYCLING

Team Roadrunners, a local non-profit bicycling club, will sponsor the Limaland Bicycle Tour on the morning of June 17 beginning at Ottawa Metro Park, 2632 Ada Road in Lima. Three routes are available: 25 miles ($10 individual pre-registered, $25 family pre-registered) with refreshments and rest stops on the road; 40 and 65 miles ($20 individual pre-registered) with refreshments, rest stops on the road and lunch afterwards. All pre-registered riders by June 5th receive a free t-shirt (25-mile family pre-registrations receive two free T-shirts). After June 5th and day-of-event registrations are available, but increase $5 for all categories with no T-shirts. Routes are on low traffic country roads with maps, painted road markings, and sag/mechanic support. A portion of the proceeds support Wheelhouse Bike Ministry. Online registration is now open for the third annual Ride to Remember, set for Saturday, July 8, in Bluffton. The bike ride offers routes from two miles all the way to 112 miles. Depending upon which bike route a rider takes, routes go from Bluffton through Rockport, Pandora, Gilboa, Benton Ridge, Rawson and Mt. Cory. Registration through July 1 is $20 for an individual, $15 for the second family member and $5 for each additional family member. After July 1 registration is an additional $5 per category. The ride supports bike and pedestrian path construction in Bluffton. The ride starts and ends at Bluffton Family Recreation, 215 Snider Road, Bluffton. Youth who have completed grades 1-4 can register for a two-day stay fit class planned in June at Bluffton Family Recreation. This sessions are from 3 to 5:15 p.m., June 7-8. U.S. Plastics Corp. and District 8 Fellowship of Christian Athletes presents the third annual Legends of Northwest Ohio Youth Football Camp on July 8 at Elida Football Stadium (Elida Fieldhouse in case of rain). The camp is free and runs from 9 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Students ages 8-13 are invited to attend. Instructors are local high school coaches, college and NFL players. The Lima YMCA will be conducting two summer golf camp for boys and girls 6- 14 years of age. The first camp will be held at Tamarac Golf Course at 10 a.m. June 5, 7, 12. The second summer golf camp will be at Oaks Golf Course at 9:30 a.m. June 26-29 at The fee is $75 for Y members and $80 for non members. Individuals must have golf clubs.

Online registration is open at limacitygolf.com for the 2017 Lima City Golf Men’s Tournament that will take place June 21-25 at courses throughout the Lima area. The tournament will open Wednesday, June 21, for the Senior Flights at Colonial Golfers Club and the Open Flight will begin qualifying rounds at Hidden Creek. Thursday, June 22, begins the Championship Flight at Hidden Creek with two rounds of play. The Senior Flights will play Bluffton while the Open Flights will play at the Oaks which comes aboard for the 2017 tournament. All flights will play at Shawnee Country Club from June 23 through June 25. Entry fee is $50 until June 9 and $60 between June 10 and the registration deadline of 5 p.m. June 16. The Delphos Country Club is forming a Wednesday Night Fun and Fitness Golf League. Walking nine holes is over 6,500 steps, that’s 3.5 miles. Bluffton University’s 20th annual Alumni and Friends Golf Scramble will be held on Saturday, July 15 at Colonial Golfers Club.bRegistration for this event is $90 per person or $360 per team. ICE SKATING

The City of Findlay Recreation Department is offering a summer ice skating camp at The Huntington Arena, 3430 North Main St., Findlay, June 12-15. This will be the fifth annual summer skating camp organized by The City of Findlay Recreation Department. Advanced skaters attend from 8-10:30 am, while the beginner skaters attend 10 a.m,-12:30pm. The camp is designed for ages 5 and up and for beginners through advanced including figure and hockey skaters. The theme for the camp is Star Wars and on Thursday, June 15 at 12:30pm all of the camp skaters will skate in a Star War’s themed ice show. The ice show is free for the public to come and watch. Immediately following the ice show there will be a public skate session from 1-2:50pm. The public skate cost is $5 admission and $3 skate rental. The Lima YMCA is holding open pickleball play from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday (appointment only). Allan Nott Honda Toyota is hosting its first Allan Nott 5K Family Fun Run at 8:30 a.m., Aug. 13, at Allan Not Honda Toyota, 3500 Elida Road, Lima. Registration fee is a $20 donation to Relay for Life for adults and $5 for kids 12 and under. All proceeds benefit Relay for Life of Lima.

The men’s soccer team at Bluffton University will host an ID Camp from 2 -4:30 p.m. on June 17. The camp is open to players in high school graduation classes from 2018-2021. The camp will be constructed around the technical, tactical and functional aspects of the college game. Participants will have the opportunity to experience a college training environment while given the chance to be evaluated by the Bluffton University men’s soccer staff. Camp staff is comprised of Bluffton University men’s soccer coaches as well as current players. The cost is $40.

The women’s soccer team at Bluffton University will host an ID Camp from 9 a.m.-noon on June 17. The camp is open to players aged 15 and up who aspire to compete at the collegiate level. The camp will be an opportunity for high school athletes to improve their skill level through coaching sessions, to understand the training regimen at the collegiate level and to learn about the unique opportunities Bluffton offers student-athletes. The Lima YMCA will be holding two soccer summer games for boys and girls in K – 4 and for boys and girls from fifth to eighth grade. The first camp for the kindergarten to fourth-grade students will be held at Lima Vine Street Soccer Field and the fifth through eighth graders will be held at Heritage School Roller Rink. Both camps will be held from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. June, 19-20 and 22-23. The fee is $30 for members and $35 for non members.

Bluffton

Bluffton Family Recreation will host the TetraBrazil Soccer Academy that will run June 5-9 for youth ages 6 to 18. The camp combines training to music, learning Brazilian techniques, footwork, moves and training from Brazilian soccer coaches. Campers may choose a half-day or full day camp option. Fees are $169 for half-day with the choice of 9 a.m. to noon, or 1 to 4 p.m. camp, or $219 for full day, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Registration takes place online at challengersports.com.

The Bluffton Family Recreation will host a British Soccer Camp takes place from July 24 – July 28. The camp has classes for youth ages 3 to 18 at various times during the day with varying registration fees. First kicks – ages 3-4, includes soccer basics, fun soccer games, stories and challenges. Mini-soccer – ages 4-5, includes skill-building activities and small-sided games. Half-day camps – ages 5-16, includes individual foot skills, juggling and coached games. Full-day camps – ages 8-18, includes advanced techniques, game-related practices and competitive play. Golden goal – ages 6-16, includes sessions of skills, competitions and scrimmages. SOFTBALL

Bluffton

The Bluffton University softball team will host day camps for advanced and youth players. An advanced day camp will take place from 9 a.m.-4 p.m July 10-11. During the camp, for students entering grades 8-12, participants will have the opportunity to advance their skills in fielding, hitting, base running and more under the guidance of Bluffton University coaches and players. The registration fee is $80.

A youth day camp will be held from 9 a.m.-4p.m. July 12. This camp is for students entering grades 1-7 in the fall. This camp will teach softball fundamentals including proper throwing, fielding and hitting mechanics. Bluffton coaches and players will also lead this camp. The registration fee is $50.

Both camps will have a bonus pitching camp from 8-9 a.m. each morning before the traditional camps begin. Cost is $40 for both days for advanced participants and $30 for youth participants. Pitchers must bring their own catcher.

Campers will need to bring a sack lunch, water bottle and all softball equipment. The camps will be held on the Bluffton University softball field, and all participants will receive a t-shirt. Lima

Registration is now open for the YMCA SPLASH program that runs June 5-8. This is a fun way for kids ages 3-5 (Jr Splash) and 6 & up (Splash) to learn basic water skills and how to be safe around the water. As a community service, the cost is only $5 for five days of classes. Sessions are offered in the morning, afternoon or evening.

TENNIS

Lima

Registration is open for the 2017 Lima Area Tennis Association (LATA) singles/doubles and mixed doubles tournament the University of Northwestern Ohio. The singles tournament will be played July 7 and the doubles will be held July 1. On July 28, the mixed doubles tournament will be held and on July 29 a junior tournament for individuals in the eighth grade and under. The Lima Area Tennis Association and the Lima Parks and Recreation Department will be offering free tennis lessons for junior and pee tennis individuals. The junior tennis lessons, for ages 9-17, will be held June 6 through July 20 at the Collett Courts at 9 a.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The pee wee lessons will be held June 8 through July 20 and will be 10:15 a.m. Thursdays.

Bluffton

Bluffton Family Recreation will hold a women’s tennis tournament June 17. The tournament takes place in Bluffton at the Howe Tennis Courts on East College Avenue, across from Harmon Field. The tournament has the following divisions: High School – doubles division: Championship and B (pro set). High School – singles division: A and B. Adult – doubles division: Championship and A (pro set). Adult – singles division: Championship and A. Entry fee is $25 for first entry and $15 for second. Entry deadline is June 12. VOLLEYBALL

Lima

The University of Findlay Oilers Volleyball camp for boys and girls in grades 4-9 grade will be held at the Lima Family YMCA 1 p.m. June 19-22. The fee is $70 for members and $80 for non members.

Bluffton

The Bluffton University volleyball team will host several skills camps in June.

A kindergarten through fifth grade camp from 10 a.m. – noon on June 21. This camp will introduce basic volleyball skills while incorporating fund volleyball activities. The registration fee is $26.50.

A sixth through eighth grade camp from 10 a.m. – 4p.m. on June 21. This camp will teach basic skills including passing, setting, attacking, defending and serving, while emphasizing correct form and movement. The registration fee is $47.

A high school camp from 10 a.m. – 4p.m. on June 23-24 will emphasize solid fundamentals while incorporating position training by skill. The staff will bring the skill positions together to work on game play to utilize the skills in a live situation. The goal is to train efficiency. Campers can choose to attend just one day or both days. The cost for one day is $45 and the cost for two days is $75.

The camp staff is comprised of the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference champion players and coaches as well as former Bluffton players. All campers will receive a t-shirt.

YOGA

Bluffton Family Recreation offers summer yoga classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. from June 6 through Aug. 10.Erica Sheehan leads the classes. Cost is $4 for members and $6 for non-members. No classes take place the weeks of July 4 and July 11. A special yoga for youth and adults is offered from June 9 through Aug. 4.
