Bluffton defeats St. Marys in boys tennis

BLUFFTON — Bluffton edged St. Marys 3-2 in boys tennis Tuesday. Scoring wins for Bluffton were Justin Haggard, No. 1 singles, defeated Cameron Dingledine and Ryan Sprague, No. 2 singles, downed Jacob Grannan, and Trevor Bunch, No. 3 singles defeated Josh Wingett. In doubles action. the No. 1 St. Marys pair of CJ Vanderhorst and Howie Spencer defeated Levi Mikesell and Jaret Geiser and the No. 2 Roughrider doubles team of Evan Tennant and Mike Diet beat Christan Groman and Jake Staley.

Bluffton improves to 2-o and St. Marys evens its record at 1-1.

Lima Central Catholic 1

CELINA — Celina got wins from No. 2 singles player Heath Laux, who defeated Steven Taflinger and from No. 3 singles player, Drew Rosengarten, who beat Ben Kinapke. LCC’s Garrett Weininger, at No 1 singles, downed Ben Brinkman. In doubles action, Celina’s Brice Langenkamp and Kyle Lochtefeld, the No. 1 doubles team, beat Mark Janowski and Matt Cecala and the No. 2 Celina doubles pair of Sohaib Saheem and Garrett Forlow downed Jake Evans and Conner Cary.

Baseball

Coldwater 11, Fort Loramie 1

COLDWATER — Coldwater’s Dylan Brosher yielded just one run over five innings of work to pick up the win. Sam Broering had three hits, two RBI, scored a run and stole two bases. Ryan Knapke had two hits, scored twice and stole two bases and Brad Giere had two hits and two RBI.

Coldwater is 1-1 on the season and Fort Loramie falls to 0-2.

Rescheduled

The baseball game featuring Perry at Bath scheduled for today has been reschedule for April 17. The game will be played at Bath High School.

Softball

Hardin Northern 10, USV 0

HARDIN NORTHERN — Hardin Northern’s Shelby Alloway pitched a five-inning, three hit shutout. Alloway also helped herself at the plate by going 3 for 3 and driving in a run. Other Polar Bears recording hits were Madison Robson, Cassidy Decking, Holly Wilson, Zoey Curtis and Quinn Stewart-Evans.

Hardin Northern improves to 1-1.

Track and field

Bath tri-meet

BATH — The Minster’s girls took first with 111.5 points with St. Marys finishing second with 32.50 and Bath ended up third with 27 points. For the boys, Minster took top honors with 89.5 points followed by St. Marys with 60.5 points and Bath with 24 points.

Columbus Grove quad meet

COLUMBUS GROVE — The Columbus Grove girls took first playce with 98.5 points, followed by Cory Rawson with 55 points, Pandora-Gilboa with 49.5 points and Leipsic with 49 points. In the boys division, Columbus Grove took top honors with 110.5 points, followed by Pandora-Gilboa with 82 points, Cory Rawson with 46.5 points and Leispic with 10 points.

Sidney Joe Ward Invitational

SIDNEY — The Lima Senior girls placed first at the Joe Ward Invitational. The Spartans recorded 141 points, followed by Tecumseh with 112 points and Greenville with 83.5 points. The Lima Senior boys garnered third place with 73.5 points. Dunbar grabbed first with 139.5 points and Trotwood-Madison was second with 111 points.

Celina dual

CELINA — Celina swept the dual meet against Spencerville as the girls won 109-28 and the boys recorded a 107-29 victory.

Elida quad meet

ELIDA — The Ottawa-Glandorf girls grabbed the top spot with 103 points followed by Elida with 96.5 points and Kalida with 36.5. Fort Jennings rounded out the top four with 14 points. For the boys, Elida garnered first place with 104 points, followed by Ottawa-Glandorf with 81 points, followed by Kalida with 49 points and Ft. Jennings with 16 points.

Shawnee tri meet

SHAWNEE — The Shawnee girls finished first with 118.5 ponts followed by Waynesfield-Goshen with 30.5 points and Delphos St. John’s with 20 points. For the boys, Shawnee took first with 112 points, followed by Waynesfield-Goshen with 41 points and Delphos St. John’s with 22 points.

St. Henry dual meet

The Wapakoneta girls defeated St. Henry by a score of 97-50. The St. Henry boys beat Wapakoneta 72-65.

Bluffton sweeps ONU

BLUFFTON — It took eight innings to determine a a winner in each game, but the Beavers were able to sweep the Polar Bears 2-1 and 5-4. Bluffton improved to 14-4 overall and Ohio Northern dropped to 15-3 on the season.
