Elida tops Miller City in volleyball

ELIDA — The host Bulldogs defeated Miller City 22-25, 25-12, 11-25, 25-15 and 15-11 in volleyball Tuesday night.

Mallory Etzler had 11 kills, Amiah Jones had four aces, Isabelle Shrider had 12 assists and Lindsay Brockelhurst had 17 digs for Elida. Makenna Ricker had seven kills, seven aces and nine digs, Abbey Schroeder had 18 digs, Meggan Meyer had seven kills and Brittany Kuhlman had 11 assists and four digs for Miller City.

Columbus Grove 3,

Ayersville 0

COLUMBUS GROVE — The host Bulldogs won 25-13, 25-18, 25-22. Paige Bellman had 12 kills and five blocks, Rylee Sybert had 16 assists and Jade Clement had three aces for Grove.

Ottoville 3, Spencerville 0

OTTOVILLE — The hosts won 25-11, 25-6 and 25-7. Bridget Landin had six kills, four digs and three aces, CJ Kemper had 13 kills and four digs, Alexi Thorbahn had 24 assists, Emily Landin had six digs and four aces and Abi Hilvers had eight assists and four digs for the Big Green. Spencerville individual stats were not reported.

Leipsic 3, Bluffton 0

The Vikings won 25-19, 25-18, 25-15. Brooke Gerdeman had eight kills and 10 blocks, Mindy Ellerbrock had 19 digs, Hayley Heitmeyer had eight kills and seven blocks and Selena Loredo had 15 assists for Leipsic. Bluffton stats were not reported.

HARROD — The host Mustangs won 25-14, 14-25, 25-15, 25-17. Individual stats were not reported.

Kaitlyn Sutton had 10 kills, nine digs and eight assists and Anna Acklin had 21 assists for Temple Christian.

New Knoxville won 25-13, 25-9, 25-5. Shayna Bierlein had 13 kills, Kenzie Schroer had six kills, 26 assists, nine digs and six 6 aces and Faith Homan had 21 digs and an ace for the Rangers.

FINDLAY — Findlay won with a team score of 181 followed by Van Buren (200), Lima Central Catholic (204) and Fremont (286). Callie Koenig led LCC with a 47.

SHAWNEE TOWNSHIP — Medalist Sam Reed (37), Keaton McKinley (39), Will Greeley (44) and Andrew Boone (46) contributed to the winning score. Jake Hollman and Jill Schmitmeyer each shot 43 to lead St. Marys.

ROCKFORD — Cole Schoenleben (41), Mason Baxter (41), Hunter Gause (46) and Clayton Agler and Jack Wehe (47 each) contributed to the winning team score. Regan Altenbach led LCC with a 3-over-par 39 at Deerfield Golf Course.

OTTAWA — Lincolnview (171) had the low score among Spencerville (177), Paulding (180) and Columbus Grove (198) at Country Acres Golf Club.

Medalist Joshah Rager (38), Ryan Moody (43), Mick Moycka (45) and Reece Farmer (45) contributed to the winning score. Paulding’s Ethan Dominque (41), Spencerville’s Ethan Harmon (42) and Columbus Grove’s Noah Oglesbee (46) had the low rounds for their respective schools.

UPPER SANDUSKY — Columbus Grove (65) finished second behind Notre Dame Academy (42). Kenton (226) was ninth.

Grove’s Taylor Ellerbrock (fourth), Alyssa Ellerbrock (seventh), Leah Myerholtz (16th) and Macy McCluer (17th) all finished in the top 25.

ticket sales plan

Perry High School’s athletic department will sell pre-sale tickets on Thursday for the Commodores’ football game at Antwerp on Friday night.

Tickets may be purchased Thursday from 1-3 p.m. and Friday from 9-12 a.m. in the high school gymnasium. Pre-sale tickets cost is $4 for students and $6 for adults. All tickets at Antwerp at the gate will cost $6.

OAC poll

ADA — Ohio Northern was picked to finish first in the Ohio Athletic Conference in the preseason coaches poll.

Northern finished 12-7-2 overall and 7-2-0 a year ago under 13th-year head coach Mark Batman.

The Polar Bears finished with 51 points and six first place votes, while Capital finished second with 46 points and three first place votes, and Otterbein finished third with 42 points.

to win OAC

ADA — Ohio Northern has been selected to win the 2016 Ohio Athletic Conference regular season title in the OAC coaches poll.

The Polar Bears finished the 2015 season 17-5-1 overall and 8-1-0 in the OAC under 19th-year head coach Brent Ridenour.

ONU won the OAC regular season title and defeated John Carroll in double overtime of the OAC Tournament championship game to claim the OAC Tournament championship in 2015.

Northern topped the poll with 51 points and six first place votes, while John Carroll finished second with 47 points and four first place votes, and Capital rounded out the top three with 40 points.
