Indians get slammed

CLEVELAND — Adam Eaton’s ninth-inning grand slam off closer Cody Allen capped a five-run rally and lifted the Chicago White Sox to a 10-7 win over the Cleveland Indians on Wednesday night.

Cleveland was two outs from increasing its AL Central lead over second-place Detroit to seven games, but the White Sox rallied to break a seven-game losing streak against the Indians.

Allen (2-5) retired the first hitter, but Chicago loaded the bases on infield singles by Todd Frazier and J.B. Shuck, and a walk to Tim Anderson.

Dioner Navarro’s bloop hit down the left field line scored a run before Eaton homered to right on an 0-2 pitch for his first career grand slam.

Jacob Turner (1-1) pitched the eighth and David Robertson retired the final two hitters with two on in the ninth for his 30th save.

Tomlin emergency

The Indians have placed right-hander Josh Tomlin on the family medical emergency list.

Tomlin has returned to his home in Tyler, Texas to attend to a family matter and will be on the list from 3 to 5 days. Tomlin started Monday against Boston and is 11-6 with a 4.14 ERA this season.

Right-hander Danny Salazar, who has been on the 15-day disabled list with a sore elbow, will be activated today and start against the White Sox. Salazar is 11-4 with a 3.38 ERA in 20 starts.
