Locos score 8 times in 5th on way to 11-4 victory at Richmond

RICHMOND, Ind. — The Lima Locos scored eight runs in the fifth inning on their way to a 11-4 Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League victory Tuesday night against Richmond at McBride Stadium.

Ross Adolph (Toledo) doubled twice and had two RBI, DayFran Ortiz (UNOH) had three hits, including a double, and an RBI, David Chabut (Kennesaw State) had two hits and Logan Quimuyog (James Madison) had a hit and two RBI for the Locos. Jeremy Johnson (Auburn) and Kevin Woodell Jr. (Coastal Carolina) each doubled also for Lima. Brennan Laird (Earlham College) had a pair of home runs and three RBI for Richmond.

Winning pitcher Connor Curlis (Ohio State) threw five innings, allowing three runs, five hits and two walks while striking out three. Locos relievers Conner Davis (Creighton), Chandler Waszak (Miami of Ohio) and Stewart Tyler (Chattahoochee Valley) combined to allow one run, five hits and one walk while striking out six in four innings of work.

The Locos (23-10) play at Richmond again at 7:05 tonight.
