Locos win streak at 9 games after defeating Steam

LIMA — The Locos extended their Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League winning streak to nine games with a 4-2 victory Wednesday night against Cincinnati at Western Hills High School.

Winning pitcher and Ottawa-Glandorf grad Brad Croy (Bowling Green) allowed no runs, one hit and no walks to go with six strikeouts in a four-inning relief outing. Eric Hepple (Central Florida) and David Nicholas Spear (Mercer) each pitched an inning and did not allow a run. Spear got the save.

Ross Adolph (Toledo) had two hits, including a triple, and Logan Quimuyog (James Madison) and Daino Deas II (Auburn) each had a hit and two RBI for the Locos.

Lima erased a 2-0 deficit by scoring twice in the top of the second inning on a two-out single by Deas II and then took the lead with two more runs on a Quimuyog single in the top of the seventh.

The Locos (13-3) will play against Grand Lake at 7:05 tonight at Coldwater Memorial Park. Lima will play also Grand Lake at 7:05 p.m. Friday at Simmons Field.
