Lincolnview’s tournament trail

STATE FINAL

Willoughby Cornerstone Christian 72, Lincolnview 54

No. 1-ranked Lincolnview’s dream season came to an end March 19 against an unranked team with speed and quickness galore. The Lancers held Cornerstone’s top scorer nearly 20 points below his regional and state scoring average, but four other players scored in double figures.

Trevor Neate led the way with 16 points and four rebounds for the Lancers, who finished at 27-2 and with just losses to Division III champ Lima Central Catholic and Division IV champ Cornerstone. Austin Leeth and Derek Youtsey each tallied 10 points.

“It was an awesome feeling coming down here,” Neate said. “It didn’t end the way we wanted to, but there’s no better place to end it than down here.”

“All week we knew we had to attack down low with the size we had,” Adams said. “Getting the ball down low is what we do best. … We attacked down low and we did a heck of a job down there.”
