Senior classes

Senior Citizen Services, 3400 W. Elm St., Lima, offers classes open to the public at a cost of $5 per class. Bath

The Bath High School baseball program has its annual Best of the Northwest youth baseball tournament June 10, 11 and 12. There will be a 12-U, 10-U and 8-U coach pitch division. Delphos

The seventh annual Nathan Miller Memorial Baseball Tournament is June 3, 4 and 5 at Delphos Stadium Park. The tournament is a 16-20 team tournament for boys age 11-12, with age cutoff of April 1. The tournament is pool play with a three-game guarantee. Players must be from the same school district. Cost is $150. Deadline to enter is May 13. Elida

BYAA will be having registration for all boys in grades kindergarten to sixth grade that live in or attend school in the Elida Schools district. The Lima Wood Bat Classic is June 17-19 at Faurot Park, Lima. Teams are guaranteed three games minimum. All fields have fences, with three lighted field. 12-U age group only, with registation of $200 per team. Bats will be provided and used for all games. BASKETBALL

Bath

The 13th annual Bath boys and girls fifth and sixth grade basketball tournaments are coming up. Girls is March 5-6, and boys is March 12-13. Entry fee is $125 per team with Saturday pool play and single-elimination tournament Sunday. Only 18 teams per grade will be accepted. Van Wert

The 2nd annual MOMO Basketball Tournament is March 5 at YMCA of Van Wert County. The tournament is for girls in grades 2-4 and 5-6. Registration is $100 per team. All team members must be from the same school, with no AAU teams and a guaranteed three-game minimum. Admission is free for grandparents, $3 for adults and $2 for students, with no admission fee for players and coaches. Ada

The Ada Bulldog Girls’ Classic fifth and sixth grade girls basketball tournament is March 5-6 at Ada High School. It’s for school teams only, with no all-star or AAU teams. Cost is $125, payable to Ada Athletic Boosters. Teams are guaranteed a minimum of three games. AAU tryouts

The Northcoast Showtime, a fifth and sixth grade AAU girls basketball team, will have tryouts Sunday, March 6 at Liberty-Benton High School, near Findlay. Delphos

The 11th annual Wildcat 4th, 5th and 6th Grade Tournament, sponsored by the Jefferson boys basketball and baseball staffs, is March 11 to 13 at Delphos Jefferson High School and Middle School. This is for boys and girls teams. There are separate divisions for each grade level. Each time will be guaranteed a minimum of three games. Entry fee is $125. Tiffin

The sixth annual Best of the Best Spring Shootout is March 12 and 13 at the Heminger Center at Tiffin University. There will be fourth grade through eighth grade in separate divisions. Ottoville

The 15th annual Ottoville Shoot Out is Friday, April 1-Sunday, April 3. Last year’s teams will have a spot held for them until Feb. 29. The tournament for fifth and sixth grade boys basketball and sixth grade girls basketball teams, sponsored by the Big Green Athletic Boosters, has three full-size gymnasiums at the new high school and old high school gymnasiums. Teams are guaranteed four games, with a round-robin forward. Teams play two 15-minute halves, with trophies awarded to four places in each division and awards and a free meal for all participants. No all-star teams, and players must be enrolled at the schools they represent. Entry fee is $125, made out to Big Green Athletic Boosters. Crankers Critical Mass Ride will start at 1 p.m. March 20. The ride brings community awareness that cyclists are back on the streets. MSROHIO Developmental Combines

Two MSROHIO Developmental football combines will be held in March. One will be at Stars Indoor Sports Facility in Columbus on March 13, and the other is at Kingdom Athletic Center in Franklin on March 20. Registration is 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and combine testing beginning at 1 p.m. at either event. Any Ohio high school football player in the classes of 2017, 2018 and 2019 is eligible to participate. Lima

Lima YMCA instructor Mark Hunter will offer a women’s only protection workshop at the Lima Family YMCA, 345 S. Elizabeth St., Lima, from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, March 19. Fee is $10 for YMCA members and $30 for non-members. The class focuses on the most common grabs and holds, to handle violence physical attacks and nuisance date situations. PICKLEBALL

Pickleball is played from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. every Tuesday and Thursday at the Bradfield Center. Beginners are welcome.

Lima

The YMCA Annex is open to pickleball players from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday. Scheduled play is from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays. When entering the facility, check in at the security office. Courts are in the two gyms. No charge for Y members. Cost for non-members is $3 per session or $20 per month. All skill levels.

RUNNING

Formula For Life Scholarship Run

The 2nd annual Formula For Life Scholarship Run is 2 p.m. Sunday, March 6 in Fort Recovery. This 5K run/walk raises funds to support orphaned children in Haiti. Runners must pre-register at runreg.net. Each race participant votes for a high school senior or full-time college student to win $1,000 scholarships.

BBO Road Race

The 38th annual BBO road race is 2 p.m. Saturday, March 12 in Columbus Grove. Registration the day of the race begins at noon in Columbus Grove’s high school gymnasium. Awards will be given for age groups for men’s and women’s groups. Each runner receives a coupon for a bowl of “hobo stew,” and T-shirts are for sale while supplies last. Glass City Marathon

The Mercy Health Glass City Marathon in April 24 in Toledo. Normal and late registration is available until April 23, with no registrations allowed on race day. Register online at glasscitymarathon.org.

Mutt Run 5K

The Holy Hounds 4-H Club will sponsor the fourth annual Mutt Run 5K and craft show on April 24 at the Putnam County Fairgrounds. Race day registration begins at 9 a.m., with the race starting at 10 a.m. Cost is $25 with a shirt or $20 with no shirt, and all race-day registrations are $30, with no shirt guaranteed. 5K for Kate Benroth

The 5K for Kate Benroth, raising money to support her medical needs and to support research for Batten disease, is 10 a.m. May 7 at the Vaughnsville Community Center, 115 E. Findlay St., Vaughnsville. A 5K run/walk starts and finishes in the parking lot. Pre-registration is $25 with a T-shirt and $20 without, with race-day registration at $25. Awards will be given for age divisions. There is also a 1-mile fun walk for $5 per person for people 5 years old and older pre-registered or $6 on race day, with T-shirts costing $8. There will also be an exercise class at 10 a.m. for $10 per person, with Beth Casper instructing.
