Letter: Park district remains a cooperative partner

I am writing to request your support of the Johnny Appleseed Park District Levies this coming May.

Your past support of this effort has not only assisted with the development of a quality park district. It has also enabled the Johnny Appleseed Metropolitan Parks to network with all of our parks here in Lima and Allen County. The relationship-building and cooperative efforts that exist among all of our facilities here in the county are revered throughout the state. The monies saved and the relationships that have been built over the years continue to drive cooperative projects that benefit the entire county.

As the park district enters its 51st year of serving the Lima and Allen County community, I am reminded of the great partner the district has been to this community. The district has excelled in working with our schools and our corporate friends, not to mention the citizenry, both the young and the young at heart who live, work and play here.

The park district has always been good stewards of the funding it has received in prior years. Leaving things a little nicer than we found them should be a goal for all of us. The leadership and the staff understand the value of not only growing the opportunities for the community, but more importantly, they know the commitment it takes to maintain those enhanced facilities.

Finally, please know that together, our support of these levies will continue to assist the park district in making a difference by improving the quality of life for our residents for years to come.
