Letter: Mayor Rodney Metz has served Wapak well

This is my first letter to the editor. I have always hesitated in the past. With the election of our next Wapakoneta mayor coming up soon, I decided now it is the time.

I have known Mayor Rodney Metz for many years. I have done business with his family at their shop on Auglaize Street. I worked with him for many years on City Council. I have watched him growing up serving Wapakoneta. I have seen him serving not only in city government, but also as a community volunteer.

Rodney Metz has given his hard work, especially as a volunteer electrician, to projects all over town. He is always ready to do what needs to be done. I do not think we ever had a mayor that knew more about the city’s electric system.

Being mayor is not an easy job. It takes experience. It takes understanding how local government works and how to best use the city’s resources. Rodney has helped plan and implement the many improvements all over our city.

He may come to meetings in his work clothes, etc. but what I think is most important is his honesty, his experience and his commitment to all of the citizens of Wapakoneta. He has given his life helping to make Wapakoneta a better place to live, work and raise a family.

I plan to support him for another term as our mayor.
