Letter: Kasich congratulates Lima NAACP for Freedom Fund banquet

On behalf of all Ohioans, I would like to extend my sincere congratulations to the Lima unit of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) as host of the 2015 Freedom Fund Dinner.

Founded in 1909, the NAACP is the nation’s oldest and largest civil rights organization. The NAACP is an important voice for the nation’s minority community. Although the nation has made progress in the area of civil rights, we still have a long way to go to ensure that America is a place where everyone lives free from barriers of inequality and can realize their full God-given potential.

I would like to acknowledge the sponsors, distinguished honorees, guest speakers, and all participants for your contributions. Your efforts are appreciated as they will help provide scholarships for local students and help the NAACP to continue its work on behalf of Lima’s minority community.

Best wishes for many more years of impactful service.

— John Kasich, Ohio governor
