Letter: Misdiagnosed twice in one week

I am writing in regards to an article published regarding misdiagnosis. I think it happens more often than people think.

My daughter was sick—tired, no appetite and shortness of breath. Then she developed a rash. We went to an urgent care and was told she had ringworm and were given some cream. It didn’t get better, so she went to her family physician and found out she had Lyme disease.

My granddaughter and great grandson had a rash that was spreading. I went to a different urgent care and was told she had scabies and given steroids and a cream. It got worse. I went to pediatrician and found they had poison oak.

Both instances happened within a week of each other.
