Letter: Mother had chance for teaching moment

Oh my. Sarah Nickles was horrified and offended because she had to look at extremely graphic photos of murdered babies when passing an abortion protest in downtown Lima.

Did she give a second thought about how those babies might have felt? When asked by her daughters why the baby was bleeding, she instructed them to just “look away and ignore it.” How in the world do you see such horrible pictures and choose to just look away, bury you head in the sand and ignore it? Why did you not tell your daughters the truth? Why did you not take the pamphlet offered to your teenage son and teach him that life is valuable and to be responsible for his own actions as he gets older and that it will be wrong to impregnate his girlfriend and just throw the baby away like a sack of garbage simply because they do not want it?

Approximately 1.5 million unborn babies are murdered by abortion annually. Of this number, 93 percent are killed simply because the mother does not want the baby. It is an inconvenience. If you don’t have room for a baby in your life, don’t get pregnant in the first place. There are tons of birth control available if you are not too lazy to use it. Why should a tiny, helpless baby be forced to endure a horrible death all because it’s mother was just plain lazy and irresponsible? You can call it “just” a fetus or embryo or a mass of tissue or whatever you want until the cows come home, but if it has a heartbeat, it is alive and no one has the right to take that away.
