Is it a wonder today that police officers are being assaulted?
When elected officials at the federal, state and local level are denigrating them, it engenders the kind of thinking that permits violent persons to believe it is an excuse to attack them. There are many bad actors in our society that would run amok without our peace officers’ willingness to confront them. Look at the rise in crime rates when officers are intimidated for fear of racism or brutality charges.
There are some bad ones, of course. There are also poor attorneys, physicians, politicians, business people and plumbers. I am thankful for the men and women who put themselves on the line everyday to keep our communities safe.
We need to appreciate and support our police departments.
