Letter: No place for violence in sports

Let’s have straight talk about soccer and football. This will not be mainstream talk, because one cannot trust the mainstream for complete truth in anything.

When someone has talent and skill, thus a true athlete, is it utterly wrong to hurt that athlete so one does not have to deal with their talent and skill? Knocking someone out of a game, on purpose, is not becoming of a true athlete. Vicious hits on an athlete in soccer and football is wrong. If one cannot keep up with someone’s talent and skill, they should not be playing on the same field.

Why do people love seeing a violent hit on an opponent in football, when they could have simply wrapped that person up and tackled them?

Football, soccer and basketball have become more violent. When will people wake up?
