Letter: Rule would help blacks

I was born in Alabama years ago and as a young boy and a young man, I couldn’t get a decent job because of the color of my skin.

Here in Lima, there is a move by Lima city administration to do away with the “10” rule that is current at the Civil Service Board, that is only the top 10 applicants with the higest scores will get an interview for the job.

The city of Lima administration wants the Civil Service rule to state, “All applicants who pass the test for a job will be interviewed.”

Now looking at my past life in Alabama, this is good and fair for blacks and minorities alike to have chance on aquiring a city civil service job.
