The title suggests that attitudes within a community which call for or bring about the withdrawal of support from a public figure, such as cancellation of an acting role, a ban on playing an artist’s music, removal from social media, etc., usually in response to an accusation of a socially unacceptable action or comment.
The Constitution grants us the capacity to remove or discharge a public figure on the grounds of misconduct and aberrant behavior either during or prior to taking office. We are less than a week away from making decisions about the direction of our country, and we cannot allow ourselves to succumb to a state of complacency and wish for the best.
Never has a candidate spoken so boldly and poorly about American citizens as Donald Trump about others’ ideologies and points of views. Usually, some form of strategy is devised to establish points of interest applicable to a candidate’s viewpoints to increase support for the candidate’s platform. However, in this election, we see a tragic display of alienation, deceit and lies to garner that support.
Trump knowingly and persistently lies to persuade his followers to fight for his positions. He made reference to our great country as the garbage can for the world. His long-term spiritual advisor rebukes anyone who doesn’t agree with Trump’s philosophy, refers to Trump’s campaign of religious Trump supporters as being “bigger than the Black, Hispanic and Union vote” combined and claimed the election is “about the Kingdom of God!” An interesting analogy!
I ask of you what is asked of our young people in school, “Make wise choices.”
