LIMA — The Allen County Museum has received a grant from the Ohio Arts Council that administrators say will help make the MacDonell House more accessible.
The museum received $5,000 through the OAC’s ArtRISE Grant program, the goal of which is to help cultural institutions fund initiatives to increase equity and inclusion efforts. The museum will use these funds to create audio and video tours, as well as a mobile app, for the neighboring Victorian mansion.
Set to release in spring 2025, the app will be available in English, Spanish, Japanese and Haitian Creole. The video tours will also help those with mobility issues get a better view of the mansion’s interior, while the audio tours will also help the visually impaired learn more about the building.
Located at 620 W. Market St., Lima, the museum is open from 1 to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. For more information, call 419-222-9426.
