Prospective students tour LCC

LIMA — Lima Central Catholic High School invited prospective students to observe classes and tour the high school Wednesday, as the school begins accepting applications for the coming school year.

Students came by bus and by foot from Heir Force Academy, St. Gerard Catholic School, St. Charles, St. Rose and other local schools. They were greeted by cheerleaders and a pep band.

The annual tradition is an opportunity for prospective students and parents to meet LCC students and instructors, observe classes and learn about the application process and financial aid.

“It’s important to us to make sure everyone knows this is an option, an affordable option,” said Colin Stolly, a math instructor and director of enrollment at LCC.

All Ohio families are now eligible for the state-funded EdChoice scholarship, commonly known as a voucher, to help pay for their child’s private school tuition.

The maximum EdChoice amount for the coming school year is $6,166 for students entering kindergarten through eighth grade and $8,408 for high school students, though families earning more than 450% of federal poverty level will qualify for less assistance.

Parents must enroll their child in a participating private school before applying for EdChoice, which will begin accepting applications Feb. 1.

Applications for LCC opened Wednesday.
