Kenton substation fire results in power outage

KENTON — A large fire south of Kenton at a substation Friday resulted in a power outage to the entire city.

According to a Facebook post from the Hardin County Sheriff’s Office, “Power may be out for an extended period of time. Black smoke may be visible with no active fire. Keep refrigerators and freezers closed to preserve food longer. If you or a loved one are on oxygen make spare tanks easily accessible.”

The post also said Kenton City Schools released at noon.

A City of Kenton Government Facebook post said the entire city experienced a power outage starting at 9:20 a.m. to replace a transformer.
