WOFB changing pickup times for senior program

LIMA — The West Ohio Food Bank is changing its pick-up dates for the Commodity Supplemental Food Program, commonly known as the senior box program starting in November.

Instead of having set pickup times on the third Tuesday and fourth Thursday of the month, first-chance pickups will be held from 9 to 10 a.m. the third Tuesday of each month and second-chance pickups will be from 2 to 3 p.m. the fourth Thursday of each month. For example, November pickups will be held from 9 to 10 a.m. Nov. 19 and 2 to 3 p.m. Nov. 21. December pickup times will be from 9 to 10 a.m. Dec. 17 and 2 to 3 p.m. Dec. 19.

This program is intended for low-income seniors age 60 and older and allows them to pick up a box of nutritious food once a month, featuring items like cheese, milk, juice, oats, cereal, rice, pasta, peanut butter, beans, fish and canned fruit and vegetables.
