Public assistance sought in 2023 cold case

LIMA — The Allen County Sheriff’s Office has asked for the public’s assistance in solving a cold case involving the death of a woman around Nov. 16, 2023.

On that day, deputies performed a well-being check at lot 37 of the Offenbacher Mobile Home Park located at 1912 E. Elm St., Lima, and found Nikole R. Burgess, 44, dead on the bed in a bedroom with bullet wounds. The medical examiner at the Lucas County Coroner’s Office ruled the death a homicide.

According to a news release from the sheriff’s office, numerous witnesses and people of interest have been interviewed and the case is still under investigation.
