Elida grad’s debut novel goes on sale Tuesday

LIMA — Elida graduate Emily Rose Ottelien Alderman’s debut novel “Alibis: A Body in the Lobby” will be released on Tuesday.

The Lima native’s mystery novel is inspired by stories shared by her hospitality industry colleagues, with themes of family, love and redemption, according to a news release.

“I’ve always found writing to be a way to express feelings and experiences when spoken words fall short,” Ottelien said in the release. “This novel is particularly special to me, as it weaves together the complexities of relationships and the atmosphere of a small-town hotel, with all its charm and intrigue.”

Ottelien graduated from Elida High School and Bowling Green State University. She now lives in Madison, Wisconsin, with her husband, Jacob.

Ottelien previously authored two self-published poetry collections, “It’s All in My Head” and “nothing profound.”

Copies of Ottelien’s debut novel will go on sale through Amazon on Tuesday, with plans to distribute the novel to local bookstores in Wisconsin and Ohio to follow.
