St. Marys police chief announces plans to retire

ST. MARYS — The St. Marys Police Department will eventually have a new chief, as Chief Jacob Sutton announced his upcoming retirement Thursday on the St. Marys Police Department Facebook page.

“After much consideration and discernment, I have decided to retire in October after 26 years of law enforcement,” Sutton said in the statement.

Sutton expressed gratitude to city leaders and administrators for their support. He also lauded his fellow officers in his announcement, crediting their professionalism and dedication.

“I want to sincerely thank them for making the last seven years, while serving as Chief, the most enjoyable of my career,” he said in the post.

The exact date of his retirement was not included in the release.
