Swiss Historical Society fall festival planned in Bluffton

BLUFFTON — The Swiss Historical Society of Bluffton and Pandora will hold its annual fall festival from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 28, at the the Schumacher Homestead, 8350 Bixel Road, Bluffton.

According to organizers, the festival will afford visitors the opportunity to enjoy fire-popped popcorn, eat soup from a cast-iron cauldron, eat sandwiches on homemade bread with Swiss cheese and jam and try some fresh cider from Suter’s Morningstar press.

Family activities will include visits with farm animals, a horse-drawn plowing demonstration or playing in a hay bale maze.

Visitors can shell corn by hand, hear dulcimers and fiddles, ride in a horse-drawn wagon, try stilt walking, learn about cooking over a wood fire, enjoy antique quilts and a woodworking display or view the progress of the society’s new Heritage Center.
