Auto review: Rolls Royce Spectre is EV luxury at its finest

Rolls Royce enters Grasso’s Garage for the first time in 2024 with its first EV: the Spectre. This 2-door luxury automobile boasts a full electric powertrain and an array of extras boosting the price tag over $500,000. With $52,000 in optional exterior aesthetic upgrades, our Spectre tester was wrapped in chartreuse while riding on 23-inch, 7-spoke polished wheels.

It’s no secret that BMW, which owns and operates Rolls Royce, knows a thing or two about luxury. The upscale brand has thrived on endless high-end products, and now with Rolls Royce in their hands, it was a sure bet that the all-EV Spectre was coming to the fleet soon. Grasso’s Garage happened to be the first to test this chartreuse model.

Weighing in at 6,559 pounds, the coupe does 0-60 mph in 4.2 seconds as it rides on the Cullinan SUV and Phantom frame. Powered by two electric motors producing 577 horsepower and 664 lb-ft of torque, it offers a driving range of 291 miles. With gasoline options being phased out for the brand by 2030, the EV Spectre certainly is a good kick-start to achieving that goal. Its ride quality, exterior appearance, sightlines and curvatures all top the charts and also match the quality and style of the other models in the brand.

Rolls Royce knows how to achieve luxury. As quiet as can be, even at 70 mph on the highway, and in the comfy front seats, you could be tricked into thinking you’re on your own couch. Although this is for all models in the fleet, adding the Spectre EV to that list is appropriate, with the all-electric option that does not not reduce power or torque.

Lastly, some may like the chartreuse exterior; others may shun it as greens do not appeal to all consumers. But we love it.
