Lima man sentenced to program, continued probation after probation violation

LIMA — A Lima man must successfully complete a community-based correctional facility program like the WORTH Center and will continue to be on probation for three years after violating the terms of his previous probation sentence.

Otis Thomas, 62, violated probation when a drug test came back positive for cocaine on July 22. After, he was unsuccessfully terminated from the drug, mental health and re-entry courts.

Thomas said he didn’t know why the test was positive for cocaine. He said he was trying to do everything right before this.

“I’d never turn back to crack,” Thomas said. “I’ve got too much to lose.”

Thomas was sentenced to three years of probation in the Allen County Common Pleas Court in August 2023 on charges of violating a protection order and gross sexual imposition due to an incident that occurred July 2022. Thomas entered a woman’s house through a window, and the woman has a protection order against him. Thomas then hit the woman in the head repeatedly and told her to pull her pants down, then he touched her vagina.
