Lima man granted judicial release on assault charge

LIMA — A Lima man was granted judicial release Thursday in the Allen County Common Pleas Court after being sentenced to a minimum of four years in prison for felonious assault with a mandatory one year due to a firearm specification in 2022.

Judge Jeffrey Reed denied judicial release twice previously for Kacey Rimes, 25.

Rimes said he had a drug problem when the incident occurred and has matured since then. He has made up with the victim, who is his brother.

The incident occurred in December of 2021 when Rimes and his brother got into a verbal argument, and Rimes got a gun and shot once at the ground near his brother.
