Lima man granted judicial release in assault case

LIMA — A Lima man was granted judicial release Thursday in the Allen County Common Pleas Court after receiving a minimum of three years in prison in 2022 for felonious assault.

Ryan Plaugher’s attorney, Kenneth Rexford, filed three previous motions for judicial release for Plaugher which were denied. Plaugher, 37, will be on probation for three years.

Plaugher said he completed programs in prison and “never gave myself the opportunity to get into anything negative.”

The charge stemmed from an incident in 2021 when Plaugher helped a man post a camper for sale on the internet and told the man he owed him money for helping him. Plaugher confronted the man at a gas station and started punching him in the head. The man was knocked unconscious and had multiple right-side facial fractures that required surgery.
