Ohio dispensaries sell $10.9 million in recreational marijuana in second week of sales

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio dispensaries rang up $10.9 million in recreational marijuana sales in the second week it’s been on shelves, according to new data from the Ohio Division of Cannabis Control.

Sales for Aug. 11 to Aug. 17 were slightly lower than the first five days of sales, when Ohio adults purchased $11.6 million worth of recreational marijuana products.

Total receipts at dispensaries since sales began Aug. 6 through Aug. 17 were just under $22.5 million.

In the second week of sales, dispensaries counted 137,659 receipts, for a total of 276,125 receipts since the beginning of recreational sales at dispensaries.

Adults aged 21 and older can purchase up to 2.5 ounces of flower and up to about 0.5 ounces of extracts a day under the recreational law Ohio voters approved last November.

Medical sales continued at dispensaries as well, with dispensaries ringing up $7.6 million in product for registered patients and caregivers during the second week of recreational sales.

Prices inched up. An ounce of flower on average cost $266.70 from Aug. 11 to Aug. 17. During the first five days, an ounce averaged $265.90. When Ohio marijuana sales were still exclusive to medical customers on July 22, the average cost of an ounce of flower was $222.40.

The average cost of a manufactured product – such as a vape pod, a package of gummies, capsules, drinks, a package of pre-rolled joints – averaged $31.65, up slightly from 31.06 in the first five days of sales.
