Aging council wins immunization award

LIMA — The Area Agency on Aging 3 and USAging in Washington, D.C. earned the Immunization Neighborhood Champion Award for their work getting older adults and disabled people vaccinated against COVID-19 and influenza.

The agencies helped start the Aging and Disability Vaccination Collaborative, which works with independent living centers and other aging groups.

Together, the collaborative has administered more than 378,000 COVID and flu vaccines since May 2023. Roughly 11% of those shots were given to people getting vaccinated for COVID for the first time.
