Joint Township District Memorial Hospital wins Parkinson’s grant

ST. MARYS — The Parkinson’s Foundation awarded $15,000 to Joint Township District Memorial Hospital for its Parkinson’s support group.

JTD Hospital Foundation Director Julie Jacobs said in a news release Monday that the health system is “excited and grateful” for the financial support.

The Parkinson’s support group is led by physical and speech therapy departments at Grand Lake Rehabilitation. The group meets the fourth Tuesday of each month at the New Bremen-Minster YMCA.

“It is a fun, interactive group who are learning about Parkinson’s disease and the resources needed to handle daily activities,” Jacobs said in the release.

Grant funding will allow the support group to offer additional programming and education to the community so patients and family members “know they are not alone,” she said.
