Enbridge seeks 30% rate hike for natural gas

LIMA — Enbridge, formerly known as Dominion Energy, is asking the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO) for a 30% increase in what it already charges consumers for natural gas distribution service, as well as other additional fixed charges.

The Office of the Ohio Consumers’ Counsel (OCC) is arguing the increase is unjustified and should instead be a 32% decrease. The PUCO staff has also recommended a decrease.

The final decision will be made by PUCO Commissioners. They need to hear from residential consumers about the impact of this request.

The public may attend an in-person hearing at 6 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 23 at the Lima Senior High School Auditorium at 1 Spartan Way to make their voices heard.
