Bluffton Fire Department to recreate 1898 photograph

BLUFFTON — The Bluffton Fire Department will recreate an 1898 photograph of volunteer firefighters shooting water over Main Street as a test of the new village water system Saturday as part of the Bluffton Historical Society’s History Day.

Main Street will be closed from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to create a splash zone for the demonstration. At 11 a.m., the Town Hall bell will ring, which was originally installed as a way to call firemen.

An early Bluffton #1 Studebaker fire truck will also be part of the demonstration.

The Bluffton Presbyterian Church Fellowship Committee will be selling chicken and BBQ sandwiches, drinks and desserts and the Corny Brothers will be in attendance selling kettle corn.
