Wapak medical center earns ‘gold seal’ for mammograms

WAPAKONETA — Lima Memorial Health System’s Wapakoneta medical center received the American College of Radiology’s gold seal of accreditation in mammography, the health system announced via press release Thursday.

The goal seal is awarded to facilities that meet rigorous standards following a review by board-certified physicians and medical physicists, who evaluate image quality, staff qualifications, equipment and quality control measures, according to the release.

“We are incredibly honored to receive this accreditation,” Dr. Darlene Weyer, director of the Women’s Health Center, said in the release. “This achievement reflects our commitment to providing the highest quality care to our community.

“Having mammography services available at our Wapakoneta location means that life-saving screenings are now more accessible than ever for our neighbors, providing peace of mind and ease of travel.”
