Dive team that recovered Virgin Mary statue fragments to receive reward

RUSSELLS POINT — Members of a dive team that volunteered to recover several portions of the 20-foot-tall fiberglass Our Lady of Fatima statue that had been blown into Indian Lake during the March 14 tornado will receive checks July 26 as a token of appreciation, according to a release by the Lima-based non-profit American Society of Ephesus.

The check presentation will take place at 5:30 p.m. at St. Mary of the Woods Roman Catholic Church, 464 Madison Ave., Russells Point. The recipients are Jimmy Dawson of Russells Point, Richard Martin of Marysville and Josh George of Delaware.
