Alleged drug dealer rejects plea offer from prosecutors

LIMA — A Lima man charged with numerous drug-related offenses on Thursday rejected a plea deal offered by prosecutors.

Kyle Smith was in court for a hearing surrounding his attorney’s motions to quash statements he made to investigators as well as to keep evidence seized during a SWAT team raid on Feb. 1 at 1912 E. Elm St., Lima, from being used at trial.

Smith, 38, was indicted by a grand jury in March on charges of possession of a fentanyl-related compound and engaging in a pattern of corrupt activity, felonies of the first degree; the illegal manufacture of drugs and aggravated possession of drugs, second-degree felonies; and having weapons under disability, a third-degree felony.

On Thursday he was offered a plea deal that called for him to plead guilty to charges in exchange for a 15-year prison sentence. Smith declined to accept that offer.
