Lafayette Memorial Day celebration to run for 75th year

LAFAYETTE — Lafayette will celebrate Memorial Day starting with a parade at 9:30 a.m. Monday, May 27 at the old Lafayette school building.

A color guard, the Allen East Band, fire trucks and other units will march in the parade, which will lead to a traditional ceremony at the Memorial Statue at 10 a.m.

Jill Emerick will be the special speaker for the celebration and will be joined by honored veterans: Jamie Furry, Dorothy Kerstetter and Jerry Patton.

Local veterans and family representatives will ring the Ohio Bicentennial Bell to honor living and deceased veterans from the community.

The Lafayette-Jackson Fire Department will hold a chicken barbecue fundraiser following the service.
