Auto review: 2024 Genesis GV80 is a smooth luxury cruiser

As Genesis continues to outkick its coverage and provide great pricing for upscale vehicles in the luxury market, the GV80 AWD 3.5T Prestige rolls into Grasso’s Garage with character, comfort and smoothness for all riders to enjoy.

The Genesis GV80 is the fleet’s largest SUV and flagship seven-passenger vehicle, offering great storage and legroom for all riders. For the GV80, we noticed 20-inch wheels, a panoramic sunroof and heated and ventilated front seats. Seven exterior color options include our tester’s hue, Capri Blue, which was paired with an Urban Ground/Beige interior, which was one of two leather color options. A 14.5-inch HD infotainment system with a center console-based wheel was exceptionally easy to use, in typical Genesis fashion. Additionally the GV80 included head-up display, which is standard.

For 2024, the Genesis GV80 was very luxurious appearing and didn’t fall short in the curvatures or exterior fascia’s department. Powering our GV80 tester was a 375 horsepower 3.5-liter twin-turbo V-6 engine that produces 391 pound-feet of torque. The eight-speed automatic transmission was ultra smooth.

Genesis sometimes seems to be a forgotten or unpopular brand, as you rarely see them on the roads. As Hyundai Motor Company’s upscale brand, Genesis vehicles are really comfortable to drive and ride. The seats are specifically designed for passengers who demand comfort and style. They are also designed for people to be driven in, so backseat comfort is a priority of livery-type importance. Can we expect an even larger Genesis SUV in the fleet in the future, maybe a GV90? Who knows, but one can only hope it’s as exquisite as the rest of the fleet while still maintaining a realistic sticker price.
