Toys for Tots set to kick off Nov. 1

LIMA — The Lima Noon Optimist Club will kick off Toys for Tots during its noon luncheon Nov. 1 at the American Legion at 711 S. Shore Drive.

The club will hold the campaign to provide Christmas gifts for less fortunate area children in partnership with the Salvation Army and U.S. Marine Corps.

The Salvation Army will distribute collection boxes around Allen County to all businesses, schools and organizations participating in the program, where people can donate new, unwrapped toys.

The boxes will be in all government buildings and local fire and police departments, as well.

The campaign will operate through Dec. 11 and the toys will be distributed Dec. 21 and 22 by the Salvation Army.
