Fire departments in region get stipend from the state

COLUMBUS — Fire departments in Allen and surrounding counties will share in more than $1.3 million in Fire Department Equipment Grants announced recently by Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine and the Ohio Department of Commerce’s division of State Fire Marshal.

More than 150 departments in 70 counties received grants in the most recent round of funding.

Allowable equipment which may be obtained with grant funds includes protective clothing, self-contained breathing apparatus, communications and other miscellaneous equipment.

Among the grant recipients were:

Allen County — Delphos Fire and Rescue, $10,000 for personal protective equipment; Bath Township Fire Department, $10,000 for communications and personal protective equipment; and Perry Township Volunteer Fire Department, $10,000 for personal protective equipment.

Hardin County — Ada-Liberty Township Fire Department, $10,000 for miscellaneous equipment; and Northern Hardin County Fire District, $10,000 for miscellaneous equipment and personal protective equipment.

Mercer County — Chickasaw Community Mutual Fire Company, $10,000 for personal protective equipment.

Putnam County —Fort Jennings Volunteer Fire Department, $9,978 for miscellaneous equipment and personal protective equipment; and Kalida Volunteer Fire Department, $10,000 for personal protective equipment.

Leipsic Volunteer Fire Department, $10,000 for miscellaneous equipment and self-contained breathing apparatus; and Ottawa Volunteer Fire Department, $10,000 for self-contained breathing apparatus.

Van Wert County —Convoy Fire and EMS, $10,000 for communications and personal protective equipment; Wren Fire and EMS, $10,000 for personal protective equipment; and Scott Volunteer Fire Department, $10,000 for communications equipment.
