Shawnee High School artists awarded at state level

SHAWNEE TOWNSHIP— Five Shawnee High School students were honored at the 53rd annual Ohio Governor’s Youth Art Exhibition. Grace Meyers and Oleh Zhuk received Regional Awards having their work selected to be in the top 1,300 of over 8,000 works of art; Maggie Stoddard received a State Exhibition Award, having her work juried in top 300; and Heather Hartzog and Olivia Miller received the Governor’s Award of Excellence for being juried in the top 25.

The artworks will be on display in the James A. Rhodes State Office Tower in Columbus from April 23rd through May 18th. A special awards ceremony will be held to honor the artists on April 23rd. The exhibition was open to Ohio’s 1,112 high schools, both public and private, chartered by the State of Ohio Department of Education. The Exhibition which consists of two rounds of judging selected the top 1,300 artworks from over 8,000 artworks entered throughout the state’s 15 regions in the first round of judging. The second round of judging selected the final 300 artworks to be included in the exhibition and the top 25 works of art in each category.
