LIMA — Dr. Susan Kaufman has been named vice president and chief medical officer for Lima Memorial Health System as current VP and CMO Dr. Dennis Morris plans to retire in April.
Kaufman, who has practiced primary care for 31 years, has been with Lima Memorial Physicians for a decade, most recently as chief primary care medical director.
The health system announced Kaufman’s appointment Wednesday alongside other leadership changes set to take effect in January.
Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Bob Armstrong will become SVP and chief administrative officer, overseeing system-wide business development and process improvement strategies for Lima Memorial.
Succeeding Armstrong is Lynn Carpenter, who has worked for the health system for 28 years, most recently as executive director of the Lima Memorial Foundation, marketing, volunteer services and provider recruitment.
Mike Swick will remain president and CEO.
“We are immensely proud of the leadership team we have curated throughout the years here at our community’s local hospital,” Swick said in a press release Wednesday. “With these outstanding individuals at the forefront of our key initiatives, I am confident we will continue to move forward in providing exceptional care to our patients and community.”
The Lima Memorial Auxiliary, which oversees more than 300 volunteers across the health system, also installed David Hersh and Jackie Binkley as president and president-elect for 2023 during its annual meeting Thursday.
The auxiliary recently fulfilled its $500,000 pledge to support construction of the hospital’s new welcome center, complete with a Biggby Coffee shop and redesigned patient drop-off area that reopened to the public in September.
The welcome center renovation was one of several projects included in the health system’s $30 million expansion.
