New name, ownership announced at Lima Lumber Co.

LIMA — Lima Lumber Co., a fixture in the local lumber and building supply business for 75 years, is getting a new owner and a new name.

Mike Steiner and Kevin Gratz, who have owned the business at 1101 Delphos Ave. for the past 38 years, announced the sale of the business — and their pending retirements — in a statement re-leased Thursday.

Effective March 1 the ownership of the business will transfer to Doug Bruns under the name Lima Lumber Brick & Block.

Lima Lumber Co. was owned and operated for its first 37 years by the F.D. Wolfe family and for the past 38 years by Gratz and Steiner.

“We thank our employees, customers and vendors for all their support over these 38 years,” Steiner said.

“We will cherish the friends and relationships we’ve made over those years” Gratz said.

Bruns, in a prepared statement, said, “We are looking forward to serving the Lima community. With the change of the name also comes an exciting opportunity to have a more extensive area of sales. Adding to the previous lumber and building materials will be outdoor pavers, brick, stone and much more.

“Kevin and Steiner have done a great job with Lima Lumber for the 38 years they have owned it. We are excited that the staff will be staying, knowing their knowledge and experience will be a big key to the success of this new business venture. I want to personally wish Mike and Kevin a happy retirement.”

The phone number at the business will remain the same, 419-227-1020, with store hours of 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays.
