MADD recognizes “Top Cops” during annual banquet

LIMA — Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) of Allen-Hardin-Putnam counties recognized local law enforcement officers Tuesday during the annual Top Cop banquet.

The “Top Cops” from each law enforcement agency in the three counties were recognized at the event for their efforts toward making Allen, Hardin, and Putnam counties safer places to live.

In a prepared statement, the MADD organization said it “appreciates the efforts of officers who understand the importance of making area roadways safer by enforcing Ohio’s drunk driving laws.”

Following is a list of the officers who made the greatest number of arrests in 2017 for driving under the influence.

Ada Police Department:

Patrolman John Iten, 7 OVI arrests; and Patrolman Amy Geieger, 4 OVI arrests.

Allen County Sheriff’s Office

Deputy Alex Greshma, 50 OVI arrests; and Deputy Brandon Hemker, 32 OVI arrests.

Bluffton Police Department

Patrolman Dominic Francis, 14 OVI arrests and Patrolman Eric Rayle, 3 OVI arrests.

Delphos Police Department

Sgt. Alec Cooper, 15 OVI arrests.

Leipsic Police Department

Officer Joseph Quintero, 7 OVI arrests; and Officer Robert Fitzgerald, 3 OVI arrests.

Lima Police Department

Patrolman Scott Luedeke, 78 OVI arrests; and Patrolman Zane Slusher, 3 OVI arrests.

Ohio State Highway Patrol (Lima post)

Trooper Chad Recker, 121 OVI arrests; and Trooper Michael Kinsinger, 59 OVI arrests.

Ohio State Highway Patrol (Findlay post)

Trooper Matthew Cook, 4 OVI arrests.

Ottawa Police Department

Patrolman Shane Vance, 11 OVI arrests; and Patrolman Tyler Benroth, 3 OVI arrests

Perry Township Police Department

Capt. Reid Foust, 9 OVI arrests.

Putnam County Sheriff’s Office

Deputy Chris Verhoff, 17 OVI arrests; and Deputy Bryan Hoover, 11 OVI arrests.

Shawnee Township Police Department

Sgt. Rob Kohli, 6 OVI arrests; and Patroman Jon Baker, 6 OVI arrests.
