St. Marys teen killed, 3 others injured in Auglaize County crash

WAPAKONETA — Officials from the Wapakoneta post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol released the identity of a St. Marys girl who died Monday at the scene of an Auglaize County traffic mishap.

Kennedy Schreiber, 16, of St. Marys, died as a result of injuries suffered in a two-vehicle accident shortly before 3 p.m. Monday on Townline-Kossuth Road at the intersection of U.S. Route 33 in western Auglaize County.

Two passengers in Schreiber’s vehicle, Carson Liming, 17, and Joseph Zartman, 17, both of St. Marys, were transported to Mercy Health-St. Rita’s with what were described as incapacitating injuries.

The driver of the second vehicle, Brian Grube, 35, of Piqua, was transported to Lima Memorial Health System with similar injuries.

A statement issued by patrol officials said a 1997 Toyota driven by Schreiber was northbound on Townline-Kossuth Road, failed to stop at the intersection and was struck by a 2001 Buick driven by Grube, whose vehicle was eastbound on U.S. Route 33. Grube’s vehicle struck the driver’s side door of the Schreiber vehicle.

Schreiber was pronounced dead at the scene by the Auglaize County Coroner’s office.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Auglaize County Sheriff’s Office, St. Marys Police Department, St. Marys Fire Department, Buckland Fire Department, Auglaize County Emergency Management Agency, Ohio Department of Transportation and the coroner’s office.
