Grand jury returns murder indictments in Lima stabbing death

LIMA — In what was largely a formality, an Allen County grand jury has indicted Marchion Williams for murder in the March stabbing death of Lima resident Eddie McClellan.

Williams, 39, who is described in court documents as homeless, was indicted on two counts of murder, unclassified felonies; two counts of aggravated robbery, felonies of the first degree; and one count of felonious assault, a second-degree felony.

The charges all stem from an incident that took place late on the evening of March 13 or early on March 14 at McClellan’s residence at 605 Fairview Ave., Lima. Police officers were dispatched to the home shortly after midnight on March 14 in reference to the report of a stabbing incident. Upon their arrival officers found McClellan, 65, suffering from multiple stab wounds, including one in the chest, according to court documents.

Emergency personnel from the Lima Fire Department arrived to try life-saving measures before transporting him to Lima Memorial Health System. Doctors pronounced McClellan dead at 2:05 a.m. as a result of the stab wounds, which included a punctured lung. Police found Williams later that morning at a residence on the south side of Lima and placed her under arrest.

Police say McClellan had allowed Williams to stay at his home for a few days because she was homeless. But when he asked her to leave the home, the pair reportedly began to fight. Williams admitted to police she grabbed a knife and stabbed McClellan out of anger after he ordered her to leave, court documents show.

Williams is being held in the Allen County jail under a $1 million bond.
