BEAVERDAM — Law enforcement officials are seeking the public’s help in apprehending two individuals who were involved in an armed robbery Wednesday at Dollar General in Beaverdam.
According to a press release issued by the Allen County Sheriff’s Office, at approximately 3:20 p.m. Wednesday two black males entered the store at 417 E. Main St. Both subjects were wearing hooded sweatshirts, one red and the other black, and both entered the business with their hoods pulled over their heads, authorities said.
The two subjects then walked around the inside of the business for several minutes while the cashier tended to several other customers. Prior to approaching the cashier at the front of the store, the subjects removed chrome skeleton Halloween masks from a display within the business, placing them on their faces to conceal their identity, according to authorities.
Once other customers had concluded their business and left the store, one of the two masked subjects approached the cashier and demanded money from the register. The subject then brandished a small silver handgun and again demanded the money, ultimately discharging one round from the gun in the direction of the cashier. As the cashier ran from the checkout area to seek safety, the subject fired a second round from the handgun in her direction. Neither shot struck the cashier, who was able to take cover in the front office of the business, the sheriff’s office spokesman said.
Both subjects fled on foot and were last seen running northwest of the business. Detectives were able to collect numerous items of evidence from the scene, as well as store video of the subjects.
