Red Cross pushing fire safety in Minster

MINSTER — Representatives from the American Red Cross and Minster Fire Department will be going door to door Saturday to teach people ways to be prepared for a home fire and install smoke alarms where needed.

Seven people die each day in a house fire in the United States, and numerous others are injured. The Red Cross is visiting houses as part of a campaign to reduce the number of people killed in house fires by 25 percent over the next five years through the Home Fire Preparedness Campaign.

The event kicks off at 8:30 a.m. at the Minster Fire Department. They hope to install smoke alarms in at least 100 homes in Mister.

People also may call the Red Cross to request a free home safety visit 844-207-4509.
