Flags lowered to half-staff in Ohio to honor George Voinovich

COLUMBUS — Gov. John R. Kasich ordered Monday that flags be flown at half-staff upon all public buildings and grounds throughout the state of Ohio effective immediately until sunset Friday in honor of the life and service of former U.S. senator, governor and Cleveland mayor George V. Voinovich.

His order reads: “In honor of the life and service of former United States Senator, Governor, and Mayor of the City of Cleveland George V. Voinovich, I hereby proclaim, by the authority vested in me as Governor of the State of Ohio by the Ohio Constitution and the laws of the United States of America, that the flags of the United States of America and the State of Ohio shall be flown at half-staff upon all public buildings and grounds throughout the state of Ohio effective immediately until sunset, June 17, 2016.”
